Under the Coverslip ~ Imaging and Microscopy Competition

Under the Coverslip is a scientific photography competition where research students from the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences; Science and Engineering are able to present their scientific work as part of an art exhibition.

As well as showcasing the work of the University of Melbourne’s research students, prizes are awarded to the best images at a grand opening held in the Gryphon Gallery, of the 1888 building.

Exhibition to be held 29th - 31st of October, 2007

Grand opening and award of prizes from 5.30pm on Monday 29th October in the Gryphon Gallery, 1888 Building, University of Melbourne.

Prizes:

1st place $200
  2nd place $100
  3rd place $50
  Popular choice $50

All entrants also receive a free Under the Coverslip 2007 calendar showcasing the top entries.

Entry Details:

  • Entries must be received by 4pm sharp Thursday 25th October 2007.
  • The competition is open to all research students in the Faculties of Engineering, Science and MDHS (ie. postgraduate, honours, and 4th year engineering project students).
  • Up to two pieces of work may be submitted.
  • Photographs should be in black and white or colour (“natural” colour only ie. no pseudo-colour - standard three-channel RGB false colouring is acceptable).
  • Absolutely no “Photoshopping” other than to correct basic contrast and colour balance issues.
  • All work should be accompanied by a title and a passage of 100 words describing the photograph.
  • Go to http://www.anatomy.unimelb.edu.au/coverslip/Lodgement.pdf for the entry form.
  • Attach an A4 size image
  • Deliver to:       Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology office
                            7th floor, Medical Building, University of Melbourne
