Gene Venables studied a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne between 2004 and 2007. In 2009 he returned to the University of Melbourne to further his studies with an Honours Degree in the Department of Genetics. His honours research entailed using genetic and biochemical approaches to investigate metal dishomeostasis in Alzheimer’s disease.
Gen joined the Furness/Brock lab in early 2011 and is currently working on research projects focused on ischaemia-reperfusion injury, as well as ghrelin hormone receptors.
