Research Projects
Research in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology is centred around the themes of Neuroscience, Cell and Developmental Biology, and Topographical Anatomy.
Members of the department have expertise in molecular biology, cell culture, electrophysiology, invertebrate and vertebrate development, immunolabelling, behavioural research and human topographical anatomy.
A number of resources are shared within the department, including Molecular Biology Laboratories; Confocal Microscopes; Time lapse Microscopy; Drosophila Laboratory; Transgenic Facilities; Cell Image Analysis; Electron Microscopy; Animal Surgery; Cellular Neurophysiology – Electrophysiology; In vivo physiology; Multi-photon microscope; Laser capture and Dissection rooms.
Research laboratories are located on levels 2, 5, 6 and 7 in the Medical Sciences Building in close proximity to other Medical and Life Sciences Departments and Institutes associated with Melbourne University.
There are a number of ways that students undertaking a degree at The University of Melbourne can undertake research and take the first steps towards a career as a scientist.
This section includes details of the various research projects open to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. There is also information about the various prizes and scholarships available to students.
Here you will find descriptions of what the various options for undertaking research are and of how to find out what projects are available.
