FacilitiesWe have 3 confocal microscopes that are available for use by anyone at the University of Melbourne or surrounding institutes (see rates below). The confocal microscopes are a Zeiss Meta, Zeiss Pascal and a Biorad, which are all mounted on Zeiss Axioplan upright microscopes. All three microscopes are equipped with lasers and filters to visualise FITC (or GFP - green), Texas Red (red) and Cy5 (far red). In addition the Meta has a 405 laser that can be used to image some UV dyes including DAPI. The Meta also has spectral capabilities.
TrainingPrior to using the confocal microscopes for the first time, it is necessary to book a lesson (see rates below) with Annette Bergner or Michelle Thacker (see above for contact details).
BookingYou can book a session of each of the microscopes using the online booking calender (logins and passwords are provided to all approved users). RatesNote: these rates are likely to change on 01 Jan 2005
